30,000 spectators expected at World Padel Tour Decathlon Amsterdam Open
At the World Padel Tour Decathlon Amsterdam Open in AFAS Live from 11 to 15 October, 30,000 visitors are expected, tournament director John van Lottum announced during a meeting for press on 19 September. Only regular tickets are still on sale for the weekday afternoon sessions and VIP tickets for the Saturday.
Van Lottum revealed the first images of the stadium being built at AFAS Live for the biggest tournament on the international calendar. This arena -in purple colours reminiscent of Wimbledon- will seat 3,100 spectators per session. Besides this Centre Court, the courts of Plaza Padel near Amsterdam Sloterdijk will form the backdrop for the qualifications and for a number of matches in the main schedule. In AFAS Live on Wednesday 11 October, it will be time for Dutch Day anyway, where all top Dutch players will be in action.
Wildcards Dutch champions Bram Meijer and Sten Richters in the men's draw and Steffie Weterings and Marcella Koek in the women's draw previously received a wildcard for the main tournament. On 19 September, the couples Bart van Opstal / Uriël Maarsen and Janine Hemmes / Segou Jonker earned the last two tickets by winning the wildcard tournament at Plaza Padel under great public interest.
